On a question asked about the change in the film’s name as suggested by CFBC just a few days before the release of the film, Imran spoke to the media. He said, CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification Boards) i.e. members of the censor found title misleading. He further added that “our film is showing India in a negative context, But this what we are showing…That’s the mirror of the system…they should understand this thing.”
Cheat India “has been the title of the year, the censor board has approved all our promos already but what have done now is absolutely irrational. There is no logic in it”, as said by Imran in a recent interview with media during the promotion of the film.
He also said that in the end, it exposes the shortcomings of the educational system. He said, “Fundamentally, if the system has open and analytical thinking, then you will not do such illogical things.”
The makers of the film had to make “Why Cheat India” by changing the name of the film on the suggestion of the censor board. However, this is ‘illogical’ and ‘ridiculous’ to change the name of the film, said by Imran Hashmi.
He further said that he is happy that viewers are so mature that they can judge a particular movie, so they feel that the title changes will not affect the purpose of the film.
